When you buy a new RV, you don’t really have a lot of choice as to where you are going to go to buy it. The only place you really can buy a new RV is at an RV dealership. RV dealers have a 40% mark up on their entire inventory. You’re going to pay a lot more for an RV from the dealership then you will for a used RV for sale by owner. If you are buying a used RV, you have the option of buying it from a dealership, from a private party seller, or from an RV auction. There are a lot more opportunities to save money if you are into that.
The second advantage of buying a used RV is that a lot of times the kinks will have worked themselves out. A lot of times you buy an RV that is two or three years old that has been used less than three weeks. This is a great way to get a trailer that is in new condition for half the price of a new one. Occasionally you find RVs for sale by owner that is worn out. Avoid buying these because there are so many that are in very good condition and much is much enjoyable to own.
The third advantage of buying a used RV is the amount of money that you will save. If you can save yourself 40% or 50% by binding to her three-year-old RV, you may be able to have enough money to pay cash for it. How cool would it be to own a “like new” RV out right, and never have to pay a penny of interest while owning it? Also, the highest rate of depreciation on a motor home is during the first three years. If you buy something that is already slightly used, you don’t have to worry so much about it declining in value every year.

A lot of times however, working directly with the lender can present issues. It can be time-consuming to look for a credit union but it will be all worth it. If you want to be able to buy a car or RV with less hassle, you may want to consider buying it at a car or RV auction. These are great options because the sales will happen very quickly. At the end of the day, everything on the auction will be sold. All you have to do to get a great deal is simply be the highest bidder.
You can find these auctions advertised on the radio or in your local newspaper. You can even find them advertised on the websites of the auctioneers online. The trick is to keep your search local so that you can find auctioneers that are in your city and state. By keeping your search for auctions local, this will make the auctions more relevant, and that you will be more likely to find what you are looking for.
Another key in getting a better deal at car and RV auctions is to arrive at them early enough so that you can inspect the inventory before it sells. If you don’t like something because you think it will take too much money to fix and repair, then you don’t have to buy it. It is well worth the effort to inspect cars and RVs before hand and only buy the ones you think are worth buying.

Whether you’re looking for an RV or a motorhome for sale by owner, you can still save money by finding new places to look for these motorhomes. Most people already think about looking in the newspaper. The newspaper probably contains about 10 to 20% of the motorhomes are for sale in your local area. Another good resource for you to check is Craigslist. Craigslist is a free online listing. Where I live, there are much more RVs and motorhomes advertised on Craigslist than there are in local newspapers. I would say that Craigslist probably accounts for 25% of the motorhomes out there that are for sale.
The other 55% comes from different sources. You know some RVs and motorhomes are for sale when you see them parked along the side of the street with it for-sale sign in them. They can also be parked at a storage lot, or in a driveway in your neighborhood and have a large for-sale sign in the window. This probably accounts for about 20% of the motorhomes that are for sale in your area. A lot of times these RVs are also advertised in newspapers, but they have not sold the first time they’re advertised. The owner still have them, and in case anybody is interested, they will sell them their motorhome. Just because they’re not actively listing doesn’t mean that it can’t be an incredibly good price or an incredibly good deal.
The next way to find RV’s for sale by owner is by talking to people you know who are your friends, your family members, or your colleagues at work. There might even be a local place for employees to list items such as cars and RVs for sale. If you use this method, you will find that there are a lot more opportunities to buy and a lot of more good deals out there than you previously thought possible.
